Brief
Access North was approached to provide specialist expertise and undertake the cleaning and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) of the academy's tensile fabric structure.
Solution
Initially, a three man team was dispatched to inspect the Academy - the entire canopy was assessed for signs of degradation and an ongoing PPM schedule was proposed.
The PPM proposal included a deep clean of both the structural steelwork and the canopy fabric. This was undertaken during the Easter holidays to ensure that there was as little disruption as possible to the day to day running of the Academy. Access North's team used a special PVC cleaning fluid, to clean the tensile fabric canopy. The cleaner breaks down any build-up of dirt without causing any damage to the special coating of the PVC fabric and reveals the bright white canopy underneath.
The result when the academy re-opened after the Easter break, was not only a more aesthetically pleasing structure but a better condition tensile fabric, which will extend the life of the structure through a programme of planned preventative maintenance.
On completion, the client agreed an ongoing maintenance contract with Access North.
